Here is the cover art for “Yeti Sounds’.  Thanks very much to Errol Richardson for his amazing work.  Excitement is building as more dates are being confirmed for the upcoming tour!  You can check out some of the listings on our ‘shows’ page.  All is well with us more or less.  We set out to take some pictures on horseback two weeks back; we didn’t consider the issue that none of us are experienced riders…  Both Kiely boys fell off their horses.  Dan got knocked off by a branch while we were bushwhacking through the Yeti infested woods of Western Quebec. Marc was thrown from his mustang while running through a grassy rock-studded meadow.  Unfortunately, Marc’s fall left him with a trip to the hospital and acknowledgement of a few fractured ribs. Despite all that, Marc is recovering well.

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to our Indiegogo campaign!  We are humbled by all of your support and extremely happy that we were able to hit our target.  Discs and packages will be sent out shortly.  If you just can’t wait to hear the new songs, they’ve already been made available at our bandcamp page.

We are proud to announce the name of our upcoming release: Yeti Sounds

To ramp up for this new release, Wind-Up Radio Sessions has just added a hyphen to their name to coexist with the times.  The flowers are poking through the snow patched soils, and the sun is shining stronger with every day.   We’re very excited about our upcoming release and getting tour dates together for the summer.

Hope you are keeping well.  After a short trip to Toronto this past week for Canadian Music Festival, we are seemingly building up our plans for a summer tour and finalizing some plans to release a new EP in the coming months.  All of this is coming together amidst busy schedules, and we hope to release an itinerary along with the new songs shortly.

Hey there friends, family, and fans!

WURS would like to wish everyone a slightly belated happy new year, and let you all in on some 2013 news. Firstly, it’s been a while since our last post (October). This is mainly because we’ve been keeping a low profile, hunkering down and working on new material. We’re happy to announce that we have several brand-spanking new songs and we’ll be spending this weekend in Pembroke, Ontario recording them for an as yet untitled EP (release date TBC). We’re all excited to see what happens over the weekend – these songs are some of our best, and we’ll keep everyone updated with our progress. Hopefully we’ll have some pics/clips to share soon.

Our second announcement is that we’ll be playing Canadian Music Week in March. This promises to be a great opportunity to showcase some new material and hit the Toronto festival scene once again! As winter draws to a close and spring rears its head, we’ll no doubt be performing live on a more regular basis. No concrete dates yet, but we’ll update the site with info as and when.

Wind Up Radio Sessions!

A quick update on last week’s trip out east:

We had a lot of fun playing at the Seahorse and attending some great shows over the few days we were in town.  The well-organized and extremely accommodating Pop Explosion made the trip well worth it. Thanks to all for everything!  Back home, we are now getting  into gear and keeping some momentum going with new song development. The plan is to head back into the studio during the big freeze to have our best album yet, ready for the thaw.  We will keep you posted as recording intentions come to fruition.

Wind Up Radio Sessions, or more conveniently, WURS, are set to head out east this coming week to perform and enjoy the festivities at the Halifax Pop Explosion.  We’re eager to try out some new songs and catch up with old friends. Who knows…Perhaps we’ll even encounter a few bird species we weren’t lucky enough to see the last time we journeyed eastward.   Binoculars aside, we are really looking forward to this.  The van will be making a quick stop at the shop to take care of some squeaks.  

Amidst the transition from summer to fall, the four of us have been busy and anxious to showcase what we have been up to. We’ll be in touch before long,

As it’s been a little while since the last update, we thought we’d share some news on recent and future happenings. We’ve been lying low since getting back from tour and playing our local album launch (which was, by the way, an extremely fun night). However, this doesn’t mean that we’ve been completely inactive.

This weekend, we took Van Der Bird to Riviere Rouge for the Duckstock festival. We had an eventful weekend – brilliant music, beach jams, campfires, hot dogs and thunder storms. Alex and the Laplante family have been putting on the festival for the last 5 years and we’ve been lucky enough to play the last two. We got to share the stage with cool folks such as Birdsacrosswater, Jon Cohen Experimental, Sick Friend, Sea Oleena, Doldrums, Daniel Issiah and many more. Recovery time after the weekend was a must.

In other news, we found out recently that we’ll be playing the Halifax Pop Explosion festival this October. We’re especially excited about this one – some amazing bands are playing there and it’s going to be cool to be a part of the action.

Hello Good People,

We’re still working to get some footage from our Canadian Tour and Bird Watching Expedition put together, along with a gallery of photos, so please stay tuned for all this and prepare to have your beak blown off.  Since we last posted, we’ve been enjoying the summer weather in Montreal while working on some new ideas. It is good to be home.

In other news, the venue for our long awaited Montreal release of ‘Bird Eyes’ has changed.  Unfortunately, it looks as though Jackie & Judy’s will not be putting on shows for the foreseeable future.  Lucky for us, we have been able to keep the date the same and move the show to the wonderful Cabaret Playhouse, located at 5656 Avenue du Parc.

We are very excited for this Midnight Poutine event, where we will be sharing the stage with some fine local talent: Sunfields & Kieran Blake.

From the sounds of it, we should have a few local radio appearances/interviews lined up for Thursday and Friday of this week.  We’ll have the fine details updated on the Facebook page.

It was wonderful to perform with Mo Kenney in Halifax.  It will be exciting to hear about her as she goes out west on tour with Joel Plaskett in the coming months.  Thanks to the Quase’s along with Sara and Jed for putting us up in Halifax.  We made our way to Charlottetown yesterday where the Mackay’s have been making us feel like royalty.  Thanks to Dan Paynter for entertaining us with his Maritime stories, music and charm!

Early this evening we will head back across Confederation Bridge to PlanB in Moncton for the last stop on the Bird Eyes Tour, before we play in Montreal at Jackie & Judy’s on Friday July 13^th. 

 Our bird watching endeavors seem to have taken a bit of a backseat on this eastern leg of the tour.  However, we will leave you with this picture we took on the shores of the Atlantic in PEI.  There must have been close to fifteen Great Blue Heron dipping their toes into the shallows of Charlottetown Harbour.  They just appear like small specks, but rest assured they are there.

 Once we are in Montreal, we’ll get the chance to update you with some more photos and videos from the entire tour.  Thanks to all who have been coming out to all of our shows and following what we have been up to.
